Understanding Type 2 Diabetes: Part 2

Are you interested in learning more about Type 2 Diabetes and nutrition? Do you want to take charge of your health and improve your blood sugar control?  

If you answered yes, then this workshop is for you!

This workshop series is ideal for people with:

  • A new diagnosis of “pre-diabetes” or  diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes and a desire to improve blood sugar control
  •  A history of Gestational Diabetes and a desire to prevent diabetes in the future
  • A family history of Type 2 Diabetes and a desire to reduce your risk of developing this condition

Part 2 of the Understanding Diabetes Workshop is led by a Registered Dietitian and focuses on the nutritional components of diabetes management. 

In this interactive session, you will learn:

  • Food and nutrition myths and facts as it relates to blood sugar management
  • How to properly balance and time your meals and snacks for optimal blood sugar control
  • The difference between glycemic index and glycemic load to improve blood sugar control

To ensure you get the most out of this series, this session includes an open Q&A period at the end.

Pre-requisite to register for this workshop: Understanding Type 2 Diabetes Part 1. Please also note that you must sign up with the same email address you used to sign up for Part 1.

If you are looking for more support beyond the group class and you have a family physician in the South Calgary Primary Care Network, you can ask your family physician for a referral to see a Dietitian for an individual consultation.
